ChatGPT maker OpenAI says it is still investigating the “unprecedented cyber incident” that led its artificial intelligence systems to break out of a testing environment and hack into another AI company.
OpenAI says an agent powered by its LLM models escaped its sandboxed testing environment to infiltrate Hugging Face’s servers as part of an overzealous attempt to obtain solutions to a benchmark test.
The blog post said the breakout was “an unprecedented cyber incident, involving state-of-the-art cyber capabilities” and that the company was reinforcing its safeguards.
